Introduction

Torphan Li-ion batteries use cells with a different kind of chemistry than is used in those devices. We use LiFePo4 or Lithium Iron Phosphate 4. Here’s what you need to know: a LiFePo4 cell will not catch fire until 518 degrees Fahrenheit (270 Celsius). But you don’t even have to worry about that because Torphan BMS (battery management system) will shut the battery down at a cool 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65 Celsius) if it even thinks there’s a problem! That’s a 368F degree (205C) cushion of protection! Let’s move along, nothing to be concerned about here.
